Horse and Carriage Rental

Not only were they common modes of conveyance, horse-drawn carriages were also used to carry the couple-to-be to their wedding ceremony, as a matter of tradition. These carriages were provided by a horse carriage rental company, and these companies set the limit for the procession to four miles. The charm of such carriages has been hard to replace, as they traveled as a leisurely pace to bring the bride and groom to the church.

Vis-à-vis horse carriages which had seats facing opposite one another were used at such processions. These very classy and elegant and the most common ones had a solid black body. Variation were incorporated in terms of whether the carriage must be open air or covered, and if covered whether it should have a glass enclosure or not.

Such horse carriages are very easily available these days via various horse carriage rental companies that are into hiring and lending such carriages. Reservations can be easily made only or by looking up the Yellow Pages. However, the demand for these carriages goes up drastically on important occasions such as Valentine's Day. Also, in case a couple is getting married o a Weekend, they must make sure that their booking is done well in advance because carriage companies get booked out for this period.

Most companies offer renting of horse carriages in packages. This is indeed very flexible. Charges depend upon the distance the couple wishes to cover, the number of horses they need, the kind of decoration they wish to have, etc. carriages are also available only for a photo shoot. In case of a theme wedding, the carriage decoration and the coachman's costume etc can be ordered accordingly.

Horse carriage rental companies need to take special care of their horses because they cannot afford to have their horses sweating and panting after just a little while from the start of the procession. They have to make such a proper exercise regime is in place and the horse look fit, happy and charming.

Fitness of the horse can be determined by keeping a watch on how much time it takes for the pulse rate and respiration rate to increase from normal. The lesser the rate of increase, the fitter is the horse.

The following are some of the indices that need close monitoring:

- Pulse rate: this can be measures by placing three fingers below the lower jaw bone. Under normal circumstances fit horses must have 30-40 beats per minutes.

- Respiration rate: normally a horse must take 10-20 breaths per minute. The time lag between two breaths must also remain constant.

- Body temperature: at 37 degree Celsius, this index can be deemed as normal.
